1. Cost control: we charge a fixed fee each month for our GC services. The package can scale with your business so that you are always in control of legal costs. By using our GC service you are not exposed to increases in employer taxes.
2. Dedicated point of contact: you will always have two dedicated points of contact: a solicitor and a partner who will each know your business and be available to respond rapidly as required. In the background you will have access to the expertise of our entire firm and our network of contacts.

What’s included

• Strategic legal support: Your GC can attend business critical meetings where an understanding of legal implications is crucial. You benefit from immediate legal input that allows decisions to be made faster.
• Commercial contracts: Your GC helps create, amend, review and negotiate agreements with customers, suppliers, and partners and supports with implementation of scalable contract management processes.
• Employment law and HR: Your GC provides guidance and support with hiring and firing, employee incentivisation and day to day people issues to ensure that you comply with your obligations and don’t make costly mistakes.
• Company secretary: Your GC can handle all your Companies House filings, shareholder resolutions, board minutes and investor consents to ensure that you are compliant. This is especially important as Companies House has recently been granted substantial fining powers.
• Day to day legal support: Your GC will handle the myriad other questions that pop up including data protection, IP infringement, AI compliance and debt collection.

What isn’t included

• All of your day-to-day legal needs are included in our GC service. Transactional work (investment rounds, acquisitions and disposals and any eventual exit) and highly technical specialist analysis (such as industry-specific regulatory advice) isn’t included, but Buckworths is happy to advise on these matters outside of the GC service, usually on a fixed or capped fee. Your GC will flag any work that would fall outside the GC service as soon as possible to ensure maximum transparency.
• Specific rules such as AML officer and Data Protection Officer can be provided on separate terms.
